Inspired by a memorable late summer walk along the Gitchi Gami trail in northern Minnesota, this beautiful waterfall emerges from under the Voyageur Highway, falling into a shady grotto before joining with Lake Superior.

My cat, Hazel Anne, loves to sleep in this spot all day. Unless, of course, I decide to paint her. This was a great exercise in capturing the pose and light quickly. Painted from life in about 1.5 hours.
